This page proposes a personal review and comparison of social networking sites I've tried.
My profiles
FaceBook
very clean interface, looks professional
possibility to import personal blogs RSS streams feeds
stories (blog posts) are categorized
cool java batch photo uploader, unlimited albums
"social timeline"
limited profile and blocked users lists
few french users, networks and support in general
Conclusion: very good networking site for american people or to keep in touch with particular friends networks (alumni etc...). may be good for professional networking as well.
MySpace
exploding popularity: everybody is on myspace
nationalities: worldwide, many americans
interface: customizable (too much?)
unstable quality of service

People from Aix-en-Provence (10km around 13100): 319
People from France (my extended network only): 3000
(Updated 08/11/2006)
Conclusion: the most popular => the most efficient to meet more people
Zorpia
It was one of the first social networking sites.
nice & clean interface, very functional
personalizable view of discussions (flat, threaded...)
unlimited photo storage, albums can be downloaded as ZIP files
comments can be replied, thread-like
some features are limited to royal membership (unlimited messaging? who viewed your page...)
no local people search (Paris is the only proposed choice for French cities)
People from France: 11300
(Updated 08/11/2006)
Conclusion: a nice platform to share your photo albums!
Ringo
simple interface, easy navigation
directory-like contacts list, very functional
photo uploading software for big albums
simple bulletin feature to keep your friends up to date about what you've been up to
people browsing is based on photos and profile updates only

Conclusion: a simple way to stay in touch with your friends and share your latest photos
Amiz
nice & clean interface, simple to use
YouTube videos are played on floating layers, keeping the pages clean
